Carnegie Cycling Club

Bikes and bike riding in and around the Carnegie area has a long history with the Carnegie Amateur Cycling Club being founded as long ago as 1924. In 1984 this amateur club merged with the Brighton-South Caulfield Professional Club, adopting the current name “Carnegie Caulfield Cycling Club Inc”.

Now recognised as the largest cycling club in Australia, Carnegie/Caulfield has helped develop the careers of many champions through the years with many continuing on to enjoy success at World Championship and Olympic level, most recently with Shane Perkins winning the World Keiren Championship in 2011.

An impressive list of these performances at the highest level can be found on http://www.carnegiecycling.com.au/?c=Champs

However the true success of Carnegie/Caulfield is their continuing work to encourage and foster novice cyclists starting out in their cycling careers whether it be with the intention to emulate those World and Olympic champions or to simply enjoy the thrill of the race and the camaraderie of like minded people.

There are no barriers when it comes to cycling with either gender of practically any age able to participate as either a recreational activity or in a competitive environment. At Carnegie, riders of all ages are welcome with a Junior Development Program, administered by experienced coaches setting them on the pathway to success. http://www.carnegiecycling.com.au/?c=JDP

Likewise, those of an older age group can experience fun and excitement riding with cyclists of a similar vintage, while still within the environment of a sport generally seen as that of the younger generation. http://www.carnegiecycling.com.au/?c=Masters In fact many very successful Masters riders began their cycling careers after having retired from other sports, finding the low/no impact of cycling a blessing for tired and worn knee and ankle joints.
