Wilier Cento Uno

Product Information

Wilier Cento Uno.

No other bike has become as coveted a model in such a short time, exceeding the expectations of technical editors and consumers, alike. The Cento1 surprised the bicycle testers of Outside Magazine who, after riding and reviewing close to fifty makes and models, celebrated the Cento1 as “best in show”. The editors of prominent French cycling magazine, Le Cycle, awarded the Cento1 its much coveted “bike of the year” title. Its geometry, light weight, flowing lines and technical features have proven key ingredients to this winning recipe. It is simply without peers.

A new shape and enhanced functionality at the head tube.
The Cento1’s head tube is round at the top and squared at the bottom for increased stiffness, working in synthesis with its proprietary fork, the crown of which has been reinforced and likewise squared for increased stiffness. That stiffness enhances steerability, as well as stability when climbing or sprinting out of the saddle.

The Cento1 boasts an integrated seatpost (or seatmast) to be used in conjunction with specially designed seatclamps. A key feature of this system is the internal diameter of the seatmast, making it possible
for a qualified mechanic to retro-fit a conventional 31.6mm diameter seatpost by cutting down the seatmast to a more traditional height. Below the top tube, the seat tube takes on a progressively larger diameter for maximum stiffness at the bottom bracket.

A new feature of the Cento1 is its integrated bottom bracket design - a Wilier Triestina exclusive. It is a completely universal and “open” design, compatible with all major crank and bottom bracket systems currently on the market. The bottom bracket shell has been enlarged by 39%, increasing lateral stiffness for more efficient power transfer.

Another exclusive new feature is the asymmetry of the rear triangle, with the drive side stays differing from the non-drive side stays based on the forces applied to a frame during power transfer, and to better accommodate the movement of the chain in all situations.

For the Cento1, we have implemented Mitsubishi’s “46 ton” carbon composite, the world’s strongest, most resilient carbon fibre. As the name indicates, this carbon material can withstand forces equal to 46 tons per square millimetre.

Monocoque dropout construction: the rear dropouts are an integrated part of the rear triangle. Even the interface points (or tips) of the dropouts, traditionally in aluminium, are part of the monocoque carbon structure. The wall thickness of tubes in this area of the frame have been slightly augmented for increased strength and durability, while preserving the lightweight characteristics of the rear triangle. Tube angles have also been “softened” to dampen road vibrations.
