GT GTR 2 Road Bike. 

With a Shimano 105 group, Mavic rims, lightweight bars, stem and a great little frame this bike is actually of a standard that will give many a race bike a run for it's money.

The bike not only performs well, but it looks great and is such great value. If you are relatively new to cycling and are unsure what use the bike will get and how much you can justify spending, this bike really will suit the purpose. The bike would be very competitive for a beginner if you wish to try your hand at racing. It is an 8.9kg Shimano 105 equipped alloy road bike that runs rings around cheap standard modulus carbon frames. If recreational cycling is more your thing it will be ideal for keeping up with your riding buddies, and is ideal for your fitness regime. The frame is aluminium with carbon forks. the carbon is added to increase the rider comfort primarily. It does reduce the weight a little, but this is minor compared to the ability to absorb road vibration and some of the shock when traversing rough surfaces. 

Some may say this is “just another a 105 bike”, but disquised by this component fact is that it is attached to this cutting edge aluminium frame. The frame tubing is double butted to help minimise weight, is smooth welded for aesthetic appeal, has internal cable routing, a massive BB 30 bottom bracket and a 1 1/4” to 1 1/8” tapered head tube. All features found at the upper end of frame design and construction.
Having accepted this major point, then it’s fair to comment on the 10 speed Shimano 105 drive train, complimented by a BB30 mounted FSA Gossamer compact crank set, providing gearing that will see even a moderately fit rider easily climbing hills that had normally been a challenge.
Aimed at the competitively minded recreational rider, the GTR 2 is a pretty serious mid level bike, with more than enough “go” to balance the “show” of a cool looking frame decked out with matching components.   

If you would prefer a carbon framed bike with greater emphasis on comfort, a little less on performance look at the XDS Cr2 on special for $1699 (was $2299)
