Defy Alliance 0 Road Bike. 2010

The Defy Alliance 0 has a completely redesigned frame for 2010. It incorporates features that are "de rigueur" on the performance TCR range. These being the OverDrive steerer tube making the steering more responsive and precise and the PowerCore bottom bracket. This feature incorporates the outboard bearings in a press-fit design so the frame encases these. This equates into a stiffer pedalling platform which results in a more responsive, explosive performance.

The Alliance name calls attention to Giant's excellent ability to combine carbon and aluminium which gives you the benefits of the comfort which carbon offers as well as the residual stiffness of aluminium through the bottom half of the frame. The geometry of this frame gives one a more relaxed riding position which is derived from a longer wheelbase increasing the stability, a slacker steering angle which slows the steering down a touch and reduces the distance from the seat to the handlebars slightly increasing the riders height on the bike reducing stress across the shoulders, back and legs. This design of the Defy Alliance 0 makes it perfect for those riders getting back into riding, maybe not quite as supple as one once was or those wanting to churn out the k's without the fatigue that can be associated with more aggressive frame designs.

The bike is fitted with the ever reliable 105 group set from Shimano combined with the R600 series compact cranks giving you great range for the hills etc. The bike is assembled using Giant's own Connect SL range of components including a carbon seat post plus Fi'zi:k saddle and the excellent Mavic Aksium wheel set. The tyres are 25mm Vittorias which give some extra comfort too! This year Giant have gone that little bit further too with little touches such as colour-coded anodized derailluer hangers, saddle trims and top-cap on the head stem which finish this bike off quite nicely.
