It's not every year that a brand new model bike becomes available. Not just a new year model, but a completely new, never ever been made before type new. The Giant Defy Composite 1 is new like this. A model never previously made.

Following the success of the TCR Composite bikes in 2011, Giant realised that the benefits those buyers enjoyed could be appreciated by an even greater number of riders if they introduced the same technology into the endurance category Defy range. The success, both in the number sold and their appreciation by the riders who bought the TCR's indicated that this all-new Composite level frame, which shares many of the features of the Advanced and Advanced SL models further up the range including hand lay up of the carbon fibre fabric, will be even more successful in the Defy geometry format. Every Defy Composite adds road smoothing comfort and racing performance to provide the perfect frame for many serious recreational and racing road cyclists. With rider comfort as a priority, the Defy frame geometry allows for a more upright position than is available on the purely competition bikes. With a longer wheelbase, more relaxed angles, shorter top tube and a longer head tube giving a more relaxed rider position resulting in less back and neck fatique, easier handling and a less harsh ride, benefits which are appreciated by the long distance Gran Fondo rider and the casual weekend rider alike. The Composite material further reduces rider fatigue thanks to its ability to absorb road vibration.
