The Giant XTC cross country mountain bike has long been the weapon of choice for many hard core cross country racers and keen recreational off roaders. The 2012 Giant XTC1 builds on Giant's many years of success in creating a super light, agile and aggressive mountain bike capable of carving up almost any cross country trail you can throw at it.

There has been a lot of hype around 29er mountain bikes, and rightly so, but it is hard to go past this stalwart of the Giant range when looking for that super responsive shorter wheel based mountain bike, particularly when weight and speed both up and down the mountains are your ultimate goal.

The XTC range has remained so successful for Giant for so long because of their ability to adhere to simple principles, using high quality Shimano gearing, on a triple butted super-light frame, with a fork that combines weight and performance at a price no one can argue with. Combine all this with a myriad of class finishes such as the Maxxis Crossmark tyres and Shimano SPD M520 pedals and you with be commanding a bike fit for a professional but  priced for the amateur.
