Mongoose Shredder NX3 Boys 24 inch Mountain Bike.

This bike is so light!

It is probably the lightest kids mountain bike I have ever come across at a reasonable price. The bike has a lightweight frame, with a Shimano 3 speed internal hub. This means the gears are well protected, so less likely to come to grief with youthful exuberance. The 3 speed system is simpler to use as the gears can be changed whether stationary or moving, unlike chain gears where they will only change when pedalling.

The Mongoose is a little longer and higher in the frame than the Giant mountain bikes, so it is less suitable for a small child, but ideal if they are a little larger.
