The frame is lightweight alloy, and the bike is quite fast and easy to push. Dont get me wrong, it is no racer, but compared to the average hybrid bike, it is very fast and easy to push along. The riding position is very relaxed, and while it is not upright, it seems to be great for suburban recreational riding. The straight blade forks give precise steering and are a huge weight saving over the suspension forks generally fitted to a hybrid in the $400-$1000 price range. As the riding position places most of the weight on your bottom, the absence of front suspension is not a problem for most of us.

The Alloy V-brakes provide good, reliable braking and the gears are Shimano Alivio, which give precise, simple gear shifting for most recreational riding. The Transend 1 gives you a wider range of gears to choose from, and just a better quality gear system. The bike actually comes with a Giant Unity saddle (very comfy), alloy fenders & a rack. So it's got the extras many people desire, and these extras would normally cost around $130 for something of this quality! The Transends were designed to be "up there" in the comfort range for 2012, and they have definitely achieved this status.
