Jump Bike.A jump bike, particularly a dirt jumps bike has to be made much stronger than the average bike. Jump bikes have frames that are re-inforced in the crank area and the head section particularly. Basically the whole frame is built on a really rigid lower platform. The impact as the bike lands puts a lot of stress on the bike and can easily break a normal frame. The frames are necessarily made of thicker aluminium and so are heavier and require more effort to ride. However, this is a necessary trade off in order to increase strength. A jump bike must have a really strong wheel set, capable of taking the impact when they land. This requires a greater number of spokes in the wheels, stronger rims, usually double walled, and very robust hubs. Unfortunately it requires high quality components to withstand this treatment, so the cost is higher.
