Occasionally a bike, because of its shape or frame design will prove to be difficult to fit to a bike carrier. Usually this can be overcome by use of an adaptor bar, such as the onepictured here. Connecting between the seat post and the head stem they provide an alternative clamping position and allows lady frame bikes, some children's bikes and certain mountain bikes to be carried rather than stuffed in the back of the car or left at home. They are also a benefit to those who ride carbon road bikes due to the nature of carbon not liking being squeezed in a bike rack toomuch!
